IP4INNO
The main aim of ip4inno is to increase understanding and usage of intellectual property
(IP) by SMEs , with a view to increasing innovation and competitiveness in line with the
Lisbon goals.
Ip4inno proposes to address this by:
- Building a Consortium using a .pooling approach., integrating an important
number of actors undertaking similar or complementary activities in the field of
innovation. Synergies will be exploited to perform common analyses and design
enhanced services;
- Analysing the training needs of the target groups in the field of IP management;
- Providing training for specific target groups in the protection and exploitation of
IP and IP management, with the main focus being on patenting;
Target groups. Ip4inno is aimed principally at SMEs through training staff (.train the
trainers.) in entities supporting small businesses, such as Technology Transfer
Offices, institutions involved in the innovation process (e.g. from Chambers of
Commerce or Innovation Agencies) or Business Advisory Bodies and Incubators. The
training of staff working in direct contact with SMEs will ensure multiplier effects of the
training given and will enable the knowledge to reach a wider target audience with
maximum cost-efficiency on the part of the consortium, making full use of project
resources. SMEs and, to a lesser degree, researchers and undergraduates will be the
expected final beneficiaries of the project results through the described multiplier
effects. They will have access to future training and advice which will be provided by
those institutions or individuals which have been previously trained by the ip4inno
project. Besides, they will have access to information in the public domain available
through a specially designed website which will contain user-friendly information.
Impact. The main objective of the project will be raising awareness of IP management
targeting various profiles of actors. The profile of the partners and their participation in
networks at European level assure maximised impact and an optimum target audience
encompassing differing types of bodies.
Evaluation / Sustainability. The aim is for the project to continue, develop and
expand following the initial 2-year period. The management structure including a
Steering Committee will ensure high-quality standards, which will also be checked via
evaluation questionnaires at all levels. A final evaluation report will assess the success
of the project and recommend improvements. Partner.s commitment to the success of
the initiative is shown by their willingness to contribute 50% of the projects total cost.
